What is the Most Popular Beer in Asia?

While domestic beers are a popular choice in many countries, they don’t always make it to the top. In some countries, foreign beers dominate the top three. In Thailand, Hong Kong, and Indonesia, foreign beer bands topped the charts. To learn more about the various types of beer in Asia, read on.

Tsingtao

After the Second World War, Chairman Mao Zedong introduced the Great Leap Forward to China and increased the production of beer to double its original volume. The Ministry of Light Industry held a conference at a brewery in Harbin, China, named Yuquan Model. The brewery was based on pilsner-style beer, with the original ingredients being only barley, yeast, and water. The brewery was a good ally for China during the Cold War, and grew its production to double its original size. The Tsingtao beer was then acquired by the Dai-Nippon company after the first world war.

In 1991, the Tsingtao brewery became state-owned, although it was privately owned by the Tsui family prior to the Communist era. In the 1950s, the brewery began exporting its beer, including to the United States. In the 1990s, the company went through a privatization process, and by 1993, it was the first brewery on the mainland to be listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange. As of 2008, the company is now sold in 50 countries and is an official sponsor of the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Heineken

Besides the Asian market, Heineken has also expanded its business into Africa. The continent has the highest number of people, over 1.3 billion, and is considered the next growth frontier for beer brands. A study showed that Africans consume about 22 litres of beer per capita. The growth of Heineken in Africa is driven by its premium positioning and sponsorship of sports events. In addition, Heineken has made a huge commitment to the continent’s economy. The company donated millions of dollars to the Heineken Africa Foundation to improve sanitation and water access.

After the Second World War, Heineken began expanding into Africa. In 1949, it partnered with Nigeria to build a brewery. The company’s Star lager quickly became Nigeria’s most popular beer. By the 1950s, nearly half of the company’s export revenues came from Africa. In 1941, Henry Pierre Heineken’s son Alfred Henry Heineken (also known as Freddy) joined the family business.

Bintang

Bintang beer is a very popular pilsner with a rich history dating back to Indonesia’s colonial period. Today, it is one of the most popular beer brands in Asia and is exported all over the world. It is brewed by the largest beer manufacturer in Indonesia, Multi Bintang, which was founded in 1929 as “Nederlandsch-Indische Bierbrouwerijen”. Its market share is almost 60% and it is owned by Heineken.

Bintang beer is the most popular beer in Southeast Asia. Its distinctive amber bottle is a hallmark of the beer. It is an easy-to-drink lager with a distinctly hoppy taste that is great with spicy food. It is also comparatively cheap when compared to international brands, but it never sacrifices on the clean, refreshing taste.

Tiger

Tiger Beer is one of the most popular beers in Asia. It is a full-bodied, refreshing, tropical lager that originated in Singapore. The company that makes Tiger beer is Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd., which was previously known as Malayan Breweries Ltd. It is available in more than 60 countries around the world.

Tiger Beer has many competitors, but it is the largest seller in the continent. The name alone makes it stand out in the crowd, creating a demand for the product. Since it is the most popular beer in Asia, it is often the first choice in bars and restaurants. Its brewing history, unique taste, and distinctive branding have helped Tiger become the most popular beer in Asia.

Asia is a diverse continent, with a wide variety of beers. Tiger, Singha, and Asahi are some of the more popular. Many of these brews are often served with food, and can be a refreshing change after a spicy meal. Tiger beer, which is made in Singapore, is one of the most popular lagers in the region. Its pleasantly sweet flavor makes it a popular choice for drinking after a meal.

Singapore

Tiger beer is one of the most popular Asian beers, serving more than 60 countries worldwide. It is refreshing, light, and malty. It has very few hops or other flavors that can turn off beer drinkers. Instead, Tiger beer offers a refreshing taste that is perfect for quenching thirst on a hot southern day.

In 2013, Singapore ranked highest for beer searches on Google, outranking its neighboring countries in terms of overall search volume. iPrice’s research took into account the number of people using Google in each country and the number of beer searches per country. Other countries that were high on the list included Hong Kong and the Philippines. The Philippines ranked second, while Malaysia and Taiwan ranked third and fourth, respectively. In the South East, Thailand and Vietnam tied for eighth place, which was unsurprisingly high considering the country’s majority Muslim population.

The local craft beer scene in Singapore has grown rapidly in recent years, with the opening of new craft breweries. Breweries such as Little Island Brewing Co. and RedDot Brewhouse have emerged, and are focusing on creating innovative beers with high quality ingredients. Currently, you can find local craft brews in numerous bars and restaurants around Singapore.
