You’ll feel more comfortable playing Kas once you’ve read this. Hopefully, it will give you a good foundation to continue playing Vecna and Kas in your RPG campaign.
Kas
The Sword of Kas is one of the intelligent artifact weapons in EvilHack. It is a chaotic-aligned two-handed sword that deals poison damage. It cannot be wished for, so it will revert to a mundane gemstone two-handed sword after it is used. In addition, it does not add to the character’s artifact count.
The character is also very similar to Eddie Dawson, as many fans have pointed out. However, unlike Eddie Dawson, Kas is a vampire, and has been seen as a traitor in Stranger Things. Fans claim that this is a nod to the D&D vampire series. Although there is no direct connection between the two characters, fans have taken the bait and have begun to reimagine Kas in the series.
The original Kas was a trusted lieutenant of Vecna, but his loyalties shifted. In 4th edition, the Demiplane of Dread has been replaced by Shadowfell. Kas was once the ruler of Tovag, which was almost destroyed by Vecna. Despite the ruins of his realm, recent sources claim that he survived. The story of Kas also tells that he is now keeping new realms in the Demiplane of Dread and the Outer Planes.
Vecna’s lieutenant
Kas was once a trusted lieutenant of Vecna, but the two have long been bitter enemies. During his time as a ruler of Tovag on the Demiplane of Dread, Vecna incarcerated Kas’s son Narek. The realm he ruled was nearly destroyed in the Fall of Tovag, but Kas is said to survive. He now keeps new realms in the Demiplane of Dread and the Outer Planes.
Kas helped Vecna establish his empire on Oerth. He eventually conquered the Ulek, Grand March, and Geoff to establish an empire and rule the land. In return, Vecna left the kingdom’s affairs to Kas. He pronounced judgments and led Vecna’s armies across Oerth.
Vecna’s weapon
Kas the Bloody-Handed was once Vecna’s right-hand man. In his time as a lich, he served as Vecna’s lieutenant. He was gifted with a sentient longsword, but soon tried to usurp Vecna’s power. In the ensuing struggle, Vecna was killed and left behind his weapon, his left eye, and his hand.
Vecna’s combat abilities can be intimidating. Her dual attacks and spellcasting make her a very dangerous opponent. While Vecna is not particularly strong in melee combat, she can be used to focus on weaker party members. Her spells can also frustrate party members.
Vecna’s weapon is a powerful, intelligent artifact weapon. It can cast Fire Giant Strength and Foresight, as well as Paralyze. However, the weapon has some devious weaknesses. Vecna has to replenish her sword’s power with blood daily, and it shuts down within 60′ of Vecna.
Vecna’s eye
Vecna’s eye is a character from the game Vecna Reborn. The eye has a mysterious past, and it is said to have shifted powers with each owner. It is also said to be destined to betray its wearer at a crucial moment. This artifact is partially or fully opaque, covering the entire iris.
Vecna’s milky eye is a reference to the cataracts that most people have when they age, but cataracts rarely develop that quickly. Vecna’s milky eye first appears after Henry’s showdown with Eleven. She later reappears with her other body parts, including her hand and eye, gaining even more power.
The history of Vecna’s eye is quite bloody. After becoming a god, Vecna sought to become even more powerful. But, the adventurers prevented his plans. As a result, the artifacts became separated from Vecna’s body and vanished into the Flanaess. However, the Hand and Eye have resurfaced, though the details remain obscure.
