During the month of December, a number of people go out to watch the Santa Clarita Christmas lights. The lights are illuminated in a variety of styles and colors. They are also extremely entertaining. This is the perfect way to spend a day with the family, or on your own.
“Candy Cane Lane”
Whether you are new to the Santa Clarita area, or you are a long-time resident, there are many great places to see Christmas lights. Some neighborhoods create themes for entire blocks, while others are more elaborate displays that are similar to rides at Disneyland.
One of the most popular holiday light displays in the Los Angeles area is the Candy Cane Lane. This Christmas light display is located in the Woodland Hills area. The lane is a popular destination for families. There are large Santas on the lawns, and thousands of lights adorn the homes.
Another popular Christmas light display is Wakefield Winter Wonderland, which is located in the Saugus neighborhood of Santa Clarita. This neighborhood features a double cul-de-sac street with 41 decorated homes.
In addition to the light display, the neighborhood also features live music and horse-drawn carriage rides. Some of the homes are decorated with life-size Santas and Christmas trees.
The Rodeo Drive Lighting Celebration is an annual event that begins November 17. This event features a ceremony on Main Street, live musical performances, and a drive-through light display. Most of the lights stay on until the new year.
“Saugeus”
Having a home in Santa Clarita, I’ve noticed that some of our neighbors have quite the holiday light display. There’s one house in particular that I’m especially fond of, but the rest of the block is quite well-adorned. In fact, it’s hard to find a neighborhood in the valley that doesn’t boast at least a few dazzling displays. Some of them even make the cut for the best of the best list.
If you’re looking for a good time and a great way to learn about your neighbors, check out a free light show by Santa Clarita Transit. They offer a number of free tours of the area, from a short tour of one of the oldest neighborhoods in the valley to a more extensive tour of the area’s latest high-rises. The light show kicks off at 6pm, but you’ll have to arrive a bit early if you want to be the first one in line.
“Santa’s reindeer lights”
Luckily, I live in a city with no shortage of holiday displays to choose from. Those with a budget may have to do without, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a little Christmas cheer. One of my favorite holiday displays is the reindeer sleigh at Riverside Park, a few blocks north of downtown Sacramento. The sleigh has a red and gold trim, and a jolly old elf is in the driver’s seat. The sleigh is a novelty item, but that doesn’t mean you can’t display it on your own property.
The Santa sleigh isn’t the only reindeer in the ring. There’s also a reindeer sleigh to be found at the North Pole, a few blocks north of downtown Santa Claus. You can even bring the reindeer sleigh home with you. One of the best parts of the reindeer sleigh is that it comes with a ground stake, making it easy to display. The sleigh also has a nice-to-touch feel to it, making it more fun to play with.
“San Diego Bay Parade of Lights”
Whether you’re looking for a Christmas lights parade to attend or just a holiday festival, there are plenty of options to choose from in Southern California. For example, you can head to Altadena Christmas Tree Lane to enjoy three blocks of illuminated lights, or you can visit the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Garden to see the animals turn into glittering lights.
The Dana Point Harbor Christmas Lights Parade takes place in two separate weekends during the month of December. It is free to view the parade, but visitors should arrive early to secure a good viewing spot. Located halfway between Laguna Beach and San Clemente, the harbor is a great spot to watch the boats decked out in the best holiday lights. There is also a shuttle service from the harbor to various viewing areas around the harbor.
Besides viewing the lights, you can also enjoy festive food and entertainment at the Old Town Newhall Holiday Festival. The festival kicks off on Saturday, November 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and features fine craft booths and local restaurants. There are also live musical performances.
