What Happened to Blues Image?

The Blues Image is a late 1960s rock group that formed in Tampa, Florida. The band was led by singer Michael Pinera and later included Manuel Bertematti, Joe Lala, and bassist Malcolm Jones. Later, keyboardist Frank Kontt was added. The group lasted for a decade and was a favorite of fans.

Ride captain ride

In the spring of 1970, the American rock band Blues Image recorded the song “Ride Captain Ride” which reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was written by Frank Konte and Mike Pinera and was included on the band’s album Open. The song was also released as a single, which reached the top forty in the US and Canada. The song features a Rhodes piano played by Mike Pinera.

The song first appeared on the Atco album “Open.” The song was backed by the tune “Pay My Dues.” The song reached the Billboard Hot 100 on May 9, 1970, reaching the number four position by July 18. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on Aug. 4. It was also covered by many other artists, including the legendary Rolling Stones, and Phish.

Mike Pinera

The legend of Mike Pinera is back with the band Blues Image, performing classic rock songs from the ’60s and ’70s. Pinera is an award-winning guitarist and singer who has played with many legendary acts. Originally from Tampa, Florida, Pinera began playing at age fifteen. His first band, The Motions, supported the likes of Gene Pitney, Bobby Blue Bland, Jo Butler, and Jerry Butler. He also played in legendary blues joints on the Chittlin’ Circuit. The band’s first album, The Blues Image, was released in 1991 and was a critical and commercial success.

“Timeless,” the band’s latest release, showcases some of Pinera’s greatest hits from past albums. Songs such as “Ride Captain Ride” and “In A Gadda Da Vida” are re-arranged and extended for a new sound. The album also features guest appearances from Jonathan Cain and Pat Travers. Fans of Mike Pinera will be pleased to hear the fusion of guitar work with the blues.

Kent Henry Plischke

Guitarist Kent Henry Plischke was part of the legendary California rock group Blues Image. They were best known for their hit “Ride Captain Ride,” which reached the number four spot on the Billboard Pop Chart in 1970. In addition to Blues Image, Plischke played with several other groups, including Steppenwolf, Wolf, and the Monterey-based The Lost Souls.

In 1971, Plischke joined Steppenwolf and toured with them. He played lead guitar on the band’s hits and contributed to their studio album For Ladies Only. In the early 1980s, he moved to Southwest Portland. He replaced the late Jim Mesi in the Paul deLay Blues Band. He also worked at Apple Music as a technician. He was briefly involved in a relationship with actress Jennifer Hill. The relationship ended before the surgery.

Joe Lala

Joe Lala was a well-known percussionist who was an integral part of dozens of big-name acts in the world of popular music. He earned the title “king of the congas” after playing with artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and the Bee Gees. Later, he performed with the Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Diana Ross, and Etta James. In addition to playing with some of the most popular artists of the time, he also made several recordings with his own band, Blues Image.

In the 1980s, Mr. Lala played drums for Stephen Stills and became one of the most sought-after percussionists in the industry. For a decade, he lived the rock star life, until he was forced to take time off to deal with his carpal tunnel syndrome. At the same time, he also tried his hand at acting, sharing scenes with Robert Redford in the film “Havana” and with Steven Segal in the 1991 film Out for Justice.

Doug Ingle

Ingle joined Iron Butterfly in 1970, replacing former guitarist Erik Brann. The band was hailed as an early mega-seller with the epic title jam “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”. Ingle and the other band members toured extensively in support of the album.

The band performed with the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia and Eric Clapton. They were signed to Atlantic Records and reached chart-topping heights with Ride Captain Ride. The band’s music has been praised for its originality and challenging sound, and their albums have since achieved cult status. Doug Ingle and Blues Image’s songs have remained popular and received numerous awards.

The band’s line-up underwent several changes over the years, with Ingle rejoining the group in July 1994. The band went on tour to Europe with other members in 1997. However, in early 1999, Ingle officially retired from touring. After this, Damian Bujanda left the group for personal reasons. Larry Rust joined the group as vocalist/keyboardist and performed with the group from 1999 to 2005. Oly Larios filled in on bass for some dates in 2001 and 2003. Derek Hilland returned to some dates in 2003 and later.
