Hiccup remembers the incident with dread. His scars crisscrossed from his upper back to his hips, nearly taking Hiccup’s spine. As he remembered the incident, Snotlout looked at him and his scars. He had been uncharacteristically silent, but Hiccup did seem to notice the scar.
Fireworm scar
Hiccup was astonished when Tuffnut pointed out the scar on Hiccup’s chin. While he didn’t know how it had happened, he assumed it must have had a gruesome backstory. While he smiled awkwardly, he cringed at the thought of his scar. It was still pink, and couldn’t be very old.
It’s hard to imagine the kind of pain a dragon would have to go through to get rid of a human, and he had no idea that the fireworm was capable of causing such a scar. This scene was especially brutal for Hiccup, as Toothless had a close bond with him and often played rough.
Hiccup was trying to decide how he was going to hide his scar. He pondered about several different incidents and wondered what to do. Fortunately, he was wearing a pair of clothes. He thought about how to hide the disfigurement, and decided to look off to the side.
Hiccup had some terrifying experiences when he was younger, and he was terrified of water. This made him shy, and he avoided human settlements and contact with the humans. Although he had human allies, they weren’t around when he needed them. Moreover, Hiccup wasn’t always around when he needed them, so he acted as a human scout when needed.
In the midst of all of this, Toothless began to sniff something, and he saw a pale green Fireworm. This caused the Hooligans to get distracted from Hiccup’s treasure, and he looked up at the Fireworm. But he didn’t know what he was smelling. Suddenly, he thought of the Fireworm’s odor and tried to shut the box. However, Baggybum held open the lid with his massive forefinger.
