The Planning Section Chief
This briefing is usually conducted by the head of the planning section. It is important that all team members attend the meeting. This is because they are responsible for ensuring that the activities are conducted according to plan. The unit adjutant will record and distribute information gathered during the briefing.
The operational period brief is a management tool that brings together stakeholders to discuss changes that must be made during the operational period. It serves as a means of preparing the project team for the upcoming operational period and helps them become more efficient. It should also allow the team to discuss any obstacles that may be encountered along the way to the mission’s goal.
Measurable and attainable objectives
The operational period briefing is a meeting of operational staff, division directors, and group supervisors that reviews the current situation and the plan for the period. It is led by the planning chief. It focuses on the goals, objectives, and measures needed to achieve the objectives.
Measurable and attainable objectives help keep the operational team focused on the most important initiatives. They help keep all team members working toward the same long-term goals. These objectives can be developed based on the operational planning worksheet (ICS 215).
