The Urban Legend of Payton Leutner
After being stabbed 19 times by her two friends, 15-year-old Payton Leutner became the victim of a popular urban legend. Her story inspired several TV specials and a Netflix film starring Joey King. In fact, her story is the subject of this article.
Anissa Weier
Two 12-year-old girls lured their friend Payton Leutner into the forest, where they stabbed her 19 times. Payton’s parents and friends were horrified. The two teens have been charged with murder. They were convicted of stabbing Leutner because of her gang affiliations.
Payton was only 12 years old when she was injured, but she was intelligent and brave in the face of death. The two became friends. Their mutual love for Slender Man helped them become close friends. In fact, they even became best friends. Payton was horrified and contemplated ending their friendship.
Weier has been committed to a state mental health hospital. Her defense attorneys argued that Weier would not pose a substantial risk to others, and prosecutors said the incident was a “crime of violence.” A judge ruled in Weier’s favor on July 1, finding that there is not enough evidence to prove Weier presents a danger to others. She will have to undergo a new court hearing to see if she can be released.
Weier’s arrest relieved Leutner, who had been worried about the incident. She said Weier and Geyser admitted stabbing a friend out of fear of the Slender Man, and that they had planned the attack for months. Leutner also confessed that she had kept a pair of broken scissors under her pillow.
The serial killer was not an empathetic person. Both Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier showed no signs of empathy for the victims. Both of them felt guilty about killing their victims, but both of them claimed they had to kill their victims in order to appease the Slender Man.
Geyser’s mental illness has impeded her ability to understand the ramifications of her actions. The jury also ruled that Weier should receive treatment for her delusional state. In fact, 10 of the twelve jurors agreed that Weier was suffering from a mental illness, and her conduct was disproportionate to her IQ.
The court imposed a 40-year sentence in a mental health facility. Weier argued that the case should have been handled in juvenile court, but the appeals court determined last year that it should be heard in an adult court. Weier will live with her father, but the address is confidential. She will also have to be under constant GPS monitoring and follow doctor’s orders. Although the family of Leutner did not object to the conditions, they were disappointed with the outcome.
Morgan Geyser
Stacey Leutner, Geyser’s mother, said she knew this friendship was “not healthy” and did not want her daughter to be alone and isolated. The relationship with Weier, who lived in the same apartment complex and rode the same bus to school as Geyser, only grew as Geyser’s obsession with Slender Man grew. Initially, Leutner tolerated Weier but later realized her mistake.
The three girls, aged 12, were walking in the woods near Morgan Geyser’s home. Payton Leutner had no idea that she was being stalked by a shadowy figure – a creature she had discovered on the Creepypasta’s Wiki site. However, Weier explained to her detective that she had become obsessed with a scary character called Slenderman, who is supposed to kill children. She also arranged to kill Payton Leutner while she slept.
After the incident, Leutner returned to school. She enjoyed playing music and had sleepovers. She was hoping to attend college in the fall of 2020 and pursue a medical career. Geyser had been a source of inspiration for Leutner. The two girls shared a close friendship throughout their childhood. Their friendship lasted a total of ten years.
The two teens pleaded guilty to attempted murder in October of 2018. They hoped to appease the fictional internet character “Slender Man,” which is believed to exist. However, the victim survived and was spotted by a bicyclist in a park. Geyser, meanwhile, remains in a mental health institute.
Geyser and Weier, who were armed with knives, lured Leutner into the woods near a suburban Milwaukee park and stabbed her 19 times. The stabs did not stop Leutner from crawling to a nearby road. A bicyclist, who saw the attack, found her unconscious but alive. The suspects claimed that they had committed the attack to appease the Slender Man, who is characterized by blank white face and spidery limbs.
Morgan Geyser had a very long history of hallucinations. She started having them when she was three. As a child, she would see images popping out of the wall in various colors. Later, she would feel ghosts hugging her. She also developed an oppositional defiant disorder, which is characterized by a tendency to break rules. Her condition made her a danger to herself and others.
